Nice Airport to Èze: hilltop village or seafront

This is the most common confusion on the route. Èze-sur-Mer is reached along the Basse Corniche, the road that skirts Villefranche-sur-Mer at the water's edge; Èze-village sits 400 metres higher on the Moyenne Corniche, the two linked by a hairpin road or, for walkers, the Nietzsche path. Allow 29 minutes for 18 km — the final climb explains most of the gap with more distant destinations.

The village is pedestrian

No vehicle enters the medieval village: drop-off is at the entrance, by the car park or the village gate. The Château de la Chèvre d'Or and Château Eza are then reached on foot through stepped lanes — a few minutes' walk, but worth planning with luggage. Village hotels run a porter service: flagging your arrival when booking lets them have it ready.

Where we drop you

The village gate and the Jardin Exotique, Moyenne Corniche hotels, Èze-sur-Mer and its seafront residences, Cap Estel, the Baie des Fourmis beach in Beaulieu, next to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. The difference in access between upper and lower Èze is reason enough to name your address precisely.

Train, bus or chauffeur

Trains serve Èze-sur-Mer station down at sea level: the hilltop village then means the road or the path, climb included. Coastal bus lines link Nice to Èze with several stops. A private transfer settles it in a single ride, cases included, right up to the village gate.

FAQ

Nice → Èze with a chauffeur: your questions

How do I get from Nice Airport to Èze?

Trains serve Èze-sur-Mer at sea level but not the hilltop village 400 metres above. Coastal buses serve both with intermediate stops. A private chauffeur drives you straight to the exact address in about 29 minutes.

Èze-village or Èze-sur-Mer: what is the difference?

Èze-sur-Mer is on the shore, along the Basse Corniche; Èze-village is the medieval hilltop town on the Moyenne Corniche, 400 metres higher. A hairpin road and the Nietzsche path connect them. Say which one when booking.

Can I be dropped at my hotel inside the village?

The medieval village is entirely pedestrian: drop-off is at its gate. Village hotels offer a porter service from that point — flag your arrival when booking so it is ready.

How long does the Nice to Èze transfer take?

About 29 minutes for 18 km. The climb up the Moyenne Corniche accounts for much of the time, since the distance itself is short.

Is the transfer available at night?

Yes, at any hour. The corniches are open around the clock and the fare is locked at booking, with no night surcharge.
