Nice Airport to Isola 2000: the Tinée valley road

You leave the coast on the M6202 then climb the Tinée valley on the M2205 to Isola village, before the final hairpins up to the resort at 2,000 metres. In all 89 km and about 1 hr 36 in normal conditions — though 'normal' means little between December and March.

Winter equipment is mandatory

From 1 November to 31 March, France's Loi Montagne requires winter tyres or chains in the designated communes of the Alpes-Maritimes, including those of the Tinée valley and the Isola sector. Our vehicles run equipped over that period: it is a condition of reaching the resort, not an option. After heavy snowfall the road may be regulated or temporarily closed by the department's services.

Skis, bags and child seats

This is the route where luggage volume matters most: ski or snowboard bags, season bags, family equipment. Flagging it at booking means the right vehicle is chosen rather than the problem being discovered at the terminal. Child seats are requested at the same time.

No direct line from the airport

The airport express lines serve the coast (Cannes, Antibes, Monaco) and, in winter, the Valberg resort — not Isola 2000. Reaching the resort by public transport means going through Nice and finding a seasonal connection, with your skis. On this route more than any other, a door-to-door private transfer is what holds up when an evening flight lands.

FAQ

Nice → Isola 2000 with a chauffeur: your questions

How do I get from Nice Airport to Isola 2000?

No airport express line serves Isola 2000: the winter services run to Valberg. You must therefore go through Nice and find a seasonal connection, or book a direct private transfer — about 1 hr 36 for 89 km.

Are the vehicles equipped for snow?

Yes. From 1 November to 31 March the Loi Montagne requires winter tyres or chains in the designated communes of the Alpes-Maritimes, including the Isola sector. Vehicles run equipped over that period.

What happens after heavy snowfall?

The Tinée road can be regulated or temporarily closed by the department's services. Your chauffeur follows road conditions and keeps you informed: the ride is adapted, postponed or cancelled according to conditions, at no cost if the road is impassable.

How long does the Nice to Isola 2000 transfer take?

About 1 hr 36 for 89 km outside difficult winter conditions. The final climb from Isola village accounts for a large share of that time.

Can I bring skis and equipment?

Yes, with no luggage supplement. Give the number of ski or snowboard bags when booking so the vehicle is sized accordingly.
